SCA appoints two new Vice-Chairs

As the SCA’s membership continues to grow, so too does its commitment to promoting life safety smoke ventilation systems. With over 40 members now signed up and numerous projects planned for the months ahead, the SCA recently took the decision to appoint two Vice-Chairs to assist the current Chair, David Mowatt, in coordinating current and future strategy.

Simon Plummer of Nuaire and Darren Wale of IFC Certification Ltd have been selected for the role and, along with the Chair, will meet regularly to develop plans of action for the Association.

Simon has worked within the HEVAC industry and, more specifically, the fan sector for 37 years. After previously working in engineering, production and sales departments, for the past 20 years Simon has specialised in car park ventilation and life safety products, as well as the design of their various systems.

Darren has 18 years’ experience within the smoke control smoke ventilation system industry. With detailed knowledge of the best solutions for differing client environments, Darren is fully conversant with today’s current legislation with regards to life safety systems.

Simon and Darren’s extensive experience in fans and smoke control and their in-depth knowledge of the industry will help continue the SCA’s work as the voice of the smoke control industry.

Simon commented: "Having been a member of the SCA for many years, I take this appointment as a privalege. I will use this position to drive forward and assist in implementing the memberships agenda; taking us to the next level so we are as ready as we can be for what the future holds."

Darren added: "Accepting the role of Vice Chairman is both an honour and a responsibility that I am ready to embrace. I look forward to collaborating with the Chair and fellow board members to foster the SCA’s goals and drive strategic initiatives forward. With my experience and passion, I am committed to improving standards and creating positive impact within the smoke control industry. Together, we can navigate challenges and create a positive impact and work towards a collective vision of success."
