The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) has published guidance outlining the responsibilities of planning applicants and local authorities at ‘planning gateway one’ under the Building Safety Bill.
Expected to come into force from 1st August 2021, planning gateway one is intended to ensure that fire safety is incorporated at the planning stage for schemes involving a relevant high‐rise residential building and will require the HSE to review a developer’s fire safety plans. Specialist fire safety expertise is expected to be provided to local planning authorities on a statutory basis.
