The Building Safety Regulator has reported another increase in Gateway 2 approvals, with 84% of applications approved during the latest 12 week period.
The approval rate increased from 82% in the previous reporting period, with 287 of 340 building control decisions approved across higher-risk building (HRB) categories. The approvals represent 18,029 residential units.
Approval rates for new higher-risk buildings (HRBs) and conversions reached 92%, excluding invalidations and withdrawals, with 9,362 residential units receiving approval. The median determination time for these applications was 22 weeks.
The uptick comes ahead of the new Building Safety Levy introduced on 1st October, which the BSR believes may be encouraging developers to get applications into the system early.
There are currently 1,654 Gateway 2 applications in progress.
